Parent’s Meeting (Preschool-6th Grade): Sunday, May 20th

What do the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America all have in common? Stage presence yes, but they also offer hope in a villain filled world. This sounds similar to what it means to be “missional”. As Christians we are called to be on mission with God. That means God invites us to join forces with Him in living Spirit filled lives. This summer you and your kids will learn what it means to join forces with God. Make plans today to meet Pastor Josh during or after next weeks services for more details.

KidCheck
04/04/2012 - 08:41 AM - Posted By: Josh Brown

Parents,

KidCheck is up and running! Thank you for your Christ-centered patience while we worked on the internet issues. When you arrive at church, please sign your kids in and hand them off to their appropriate teacher. I’ve asked all teachers to make sure kids have a badge prior to hand-off and to compare badges during pick-up. Make it fun, flash your badges and thank the teachers who love and lead your children week in and week out. Thank you for partnering with us as we put Christ on display in all that we do.

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Eph. 3:14-19)

Children’s Camp
Theme: “Superhero Training Camp”. Children are specially created by God, and He has amazing plans for their lives. Following the theme they are welcome to dress during the week as their favorite superhero. Just remember, this is camp and there is no guarantee of the safe return of their outfit.
Date: July 23-27
Place: Camp Courtney in Hendersonville , NC .

Cost: $165.00 if registration form and a $25 deposit is postmarked by June 19. We request that all funds be by church check. The cost is $175 if postmarked by July 10 with a $50 deposit accompanying the registration form. After July 10 the cost is $185. We request that late registrations be at a minimum so that we can properly prepare. There will be a $25 reduction off of the registration fee based on the above schedule for children of workers if their application and background check is received by June 19.

Speaker: Rev. Jeremiah McClure. Pastor J is the Children’s Pastor at Pineville Church of the Nazarene in Charlotte , NC. Pastor J has helped us in many capacities at camp and the children have grown to love his fun approach to sharing Jesus with them.

Volunteers: As always, camp could not happen without many wonderful volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, there are a few things that you will need to keep in mind. We need all worker applications by June 19. This will enable us to know we have enough workers in place. Each worker will need to complete a background check form. There is no fee for this. Each volunteer will also be required to view a brief training lesson on computer (we will let you know when and where this is available). We will try and match each worker with their requested assignment, but this cannot be guaranteed. We prefer that underage children not attend camp. This can create unnecessary distractions. Any exceptions to this must be approved by the camp board and there will be a minimum charge of $85 to cover the extra expense the campground will charge.

Teacher/Parent Work Shop Recap

What we do, demonstrates what we value and ultimately believe. We must grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus or as Pastor B would say, “We are a “New Creation” in Christ.” A New Creation mindset says, “How can I live out the gospel in front of others?”

The Children’s Ministry department values your personal growth and the growth of the body. Two weeks ago we had a Teacher/Parent Work Shop. The topics were:

1. Living out the Gospel (In and Outside of the Classroom.)
2. Redirecting Children (How to teach without blowing your lid.)
3. Classroom Control (How to deal with diversity.)
4. Policies and Procedures (Why we do what we do.)
5. Ministry Safe (Background Checks are required on 16 and up who work with children.)
6. Food for thought (Eating Real Food is Key)

Next week these discussions will be placed online for viewing. It is expected that all children workers watch the training videos and follow through on filling out their background check information. I value the level of care inside the classroom and want to equip all our workers with the necessary training for a safe, fun and fruitful experience week in and week out. Your partnership of this vision is valued and appreciated.

Vision:For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Easter Egg Hunt
03/29/2012 - 07:28 AM - Posted By: Josh Brown

Easter Eggstravaganza is one weeks away (Saturday April 7th from 11am-1pm). Our goal is to share our story and God's Story with all who attend. The impact of this event is directly connected to the level prayer and involvement we each put into it. I'd love to have your help in one of the following 3 areas. Candy donations are due this Sunday.

1. Join Us (Come out, enjoy a meal and invite someone.)
2. Donate Candy (Candy Barrel is located next to Kidcheck.)
3. Volunteer (Games, Crafts, Food)

What a joy we have to give back to the one who gave us everything. If you can join us for this event, email at headhearthands@yahoo.com.

Update: Meet his Saturday in the Barnhouse and yes, childcare is provided. Coffee and goodies will also be on hand.

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “Stop Fighting!” or “No, you can’t have ice cream for breakfast.” and my personal favorite, “No, don’t lick the wall socket”? These are just a few (well maybe the first two) of the orders we give our kids each week. Now we all know that God expects us to raise up children that will love and obey Him, but the most common question I get, is how? This Saturday you are invited to a free 2hr seminar (w/childcare) that will help equip you to raise kids God’s way at home and in the church.

Topics include:

Generational Faithfulness (Dr. Zane)
The Art of Redirecting (Jenny Compton, Brenda Light and Heather Benson)
Sibling/Classroom Rivalry
Classroom Chaos (Jonathon Elkins)
Keeping our Ministry Safe (Ramona Byrd)
Food for Thought (Christa Jamison)
How to “Win” in and out of the Classroom (Candice McLamb)
