Serve the World this Easter This week I was looking at the Garner Parks and Recreations flyer for their community “Spring Eggtravaganza”. As I looked at the flyer I noticed that they were going to have: Kite Flying, Children’s Entertainment, Egg Hunt, a Bunny and it’s all FREE. I thought to myself, “Maybe we (Children’s Ministries) could help them with this event. I mean if we really want to serve the world than let’s get out there where people are, plus it’s free.” And then I looked at the flyer again, “Spring Eggstrazaganza”. Nowhere on the flyer was the mention of why. No mention of Jesus, Easter or the purpose of the celebration. We as Christians have the most powerful message on the planet, “An Empty Tomb”. The tomb of Jesus is empty! Over 500 people witnessed Jesus after the resurrection; no one in history has ever said, “I’m God, kill me - I’ll be Back and by the way I love you” (Ok, maybe Arnold but he doesn’t count). This is “The Message” that God has given us and must share with the world. On April 7th from 11am-1pm the Children’s Ministries is going to offer a free community/church event. We will cook-out, have an egg hunt and close with a Gospel message. Is this event worth your time, talent and money? Of course it is, therefore I would like to ask all C-Nets and RFN Area Leaders to sponsor a booth. Booth Sponsorship means your group will oversee a craft, game or activity during the cook-out. Some ideas are: Host a Kite Flying Area, Face Painting, Horse Shoes, Volleyball area, Basket Making, Bead Bracelets or whatever your group can do. The idea is this, your group investing Jesus with others at RFN and in the community. Your C-Net/ Area of Ministry exist for the primary purpose of spreading the Gospel and I can’t think of a better way than doing it thought the families of our community. Once you've come up with a plan, email me as say, “I’ll Go, Send Me”. Upon receiving your commitment I’ll email you back with more details. “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”.
