The history of Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene is a compelling one. In the spring of 1939, a tabernacle, at the corner of Franklin and Halifax Streets was purchased by the Southeast Atlantic District for $250.00. On May 14th, Rev. Raymond Browning began a nightly revival campaign that would end up lasting for eight long weeks. At that time, the First Church of the Nazarene was organized in Raleigh.
The story from that point in history until now is a story of God’s great faithfulness, grace and love. Buildings have come and gone, as have pastors and staff, but each has played their role in helping Raleigh First accomplish its mission with creative vision while remaining true to the rich heritage upon which it was founded. |
